إِنَّindeed المُحِبَّthe lover يَعودُreturns مِنكِfrom you بِخَيبَةٍwith disappointment

مُتَحَيِّراًbewildered فيabout أَمرِهِhis situation يَتَفَكَّرُhe reflects

بَينَbetween الجَوانِحِthe ribs كُلَّevery يَومٍday تُنشَرُit is unfolded
بَينَ الجَوانِحِ كُلَّ يَومٍ تُنشَرُ
He folds away his longing for you, kept safe
He folds away his youth, while you keep yours untouched
Between his ribs, unfolded every day.
Each day between your ribs spread open wide
لاno لَومَblame أَنthat يَقِفَhe stands الحَبيبُthe lover بِمَنهَلٍat a watering place
لا لَومَ أَن يَقِفَ الحَبيبُ بِمَنهَلٍ
يَرجوhe hopes for السَبيلَthe way إِلىto الوُرودِreaching the water وَيَحذَرُand he is wary
يَرجو السَبيلَ إِلى الوُرودِ وَيَحذَرُ
There is no blame in the lover's standing at a watering place,
No blame that the lover stands at the watering hole
Hoping for a way to reach the water, yet wary.
