وَما غابَ عَنّي وَجهُها مُذ رَأَيتُها

وَما غابَ عَنّي وَجهُها مُذ رَأَيتُها

وَلا مالَ بي عَنها إِلى غَيرِها قَلبي

وَلا مالَ بي عَنها إِلى غَيرِها قَلبي

And her face has not been absent from me since I saw her.

Her face has not been absent from me since I first saw it

Nor has my heart turned me away from her toward another.

Nor has my heart inclined from her to another

وَلا رُمتُ عَنها سَلوَةً وَلَو أَنَّني

وَلا رُمتُ عَنها سَلوَةً وَلَو أَنَّني

تَجَنَّبتُها يَوماً لَعاقَبَني رَبّي

تَجَنَّبتُها يَوماً لَعاقَبَني رَبّي

Nor have I sought to forget her; and had I

Nor have I sought to distract myself from her, even if

Avoided her for a day, my Lord would have punished me.

I avoided her for a day, my Lord would punish me

وَلا اِختَلَفَت حالايَ في وَصلِ حَبلِها

وَلا اِختَلَفَت حالايَ في وَصلِ حَبلِها

لَأَقطَعُهُ في البُعدِ مِنها وَفي القُربِ

لَأَقطَعُهُ في البُعدِ مِنها وَفي القُربِ

Nor have my two states differed in keeping her cord joined.

My circumstances have not changed in being connected by her rope

I would surely sever it, both far from her and near.

I would cut it off whether distant or close in nearness to her
