حَبانيbestowed on me إِذwhen جَهِلتُI acted foolishly بَنوthe sons of زُهَيرٍZuhayr
حَباني إِذ جَهِلتُ بَنو زُهَيرٍ
بِموضِحَةٍwith a wound exposing the bone تَشُنُّgushes عَلىover الجَبينِthe brow
بِموضِحَةٍ تَشُنُّ عَلى الجَبينِ
When I acted foolishly, the sons of Zuhayr gifted me
The clan of Zuhair treated me in ignorance
with a bone-baring wound that gushes over my brow.
With a sword that split open my forehead
