تَقولُshe says وَقَدand already ظَلِلتُI spent the day بِعَوفِin a state of سَوءٍmisery
تَقولُ وَقَد ظَلِلتُ بِعَوفِ سَوءٍ
لَقَدindeed أَمسَيتَyou have reached evening مُنتَفِخَswollen الضُلوعِthe ribs
لَقَد أَمسَيتَ مُنتَفِخَ الضُلوعِ
She says, after I have spent the day in a sorry plight,
You say, though in evil's shade I dwell,
“By evening, your ribs are indeed swollen.”
That I have grown distended in the ribs,
وَذَلِكَand that مِنfrom جَناتيmy harvest كُلَّevery يَومٍday
وَذَلِكَ مِن جَناتي كُلَّ يَومٍ
مِنَof الذُبَحِthe dhubaḥ plant (with edible roots) المُقَشَّرِpeeled وَالفُروعِand the shoots
مِنَ الذُبَحِ المُقَشَّرِ وَالفُروعِ
And that comes from what I gather every day:
That proves because of what I get each day
Peeled dhubaḥ roots and shoots.
Of peeled and leafless branches for my libs.
