نَصَبناWe set up لَكُمfor you رَأساًa head فَلَمyet did not تَكلِمواyou inflict a wound بِهِon it
نَصَبنا لَكُم رَأساً فَلَم تَكلِموا بِهِ
وَنَحنُAnd we ضَرَبناstruck رَأسَكُمyour head فَتَصَدَّعاso it split apart
وَنَحنُ ضَرَبنا رَأسَكُم فَتَصَدَّعا
We appointed you a head, yet through it you did not speak;
We set a head before you, yet you inflicted no wound on it;
and we struck your head, so it split apart.
And we struck your head, and it split apart.
وَنَحنُAnd we قَسَمناdivided الأَرضَthe land نِصفَينِinto two halves نِصفُهاhalf of it
وَنَحنُ قَسَمنا الأَرضَ نِصفَينِ نِصفُها
لَناours وَنُراميand we fight أَنthat تَكونَit should be لَناours مَعاaltogether
لَنا وَنُرامي أَن تَكونَ لَنا مَعا
We divided the earth in two: one half of it
And we divided the land into two halves: half of it
is ours, and we exchange shots to make both halves ours together.
Is ours, and we fight to possess it all,

With ninety thousand—the eye is bewildered in their midst;
With ninety thousand, in whose midst the eye is bewildered;
whenever al-Ṭirimmāḥ’s two eyes behold them, they weep.
Whenever al-Turamah's two eyes see it, they weep.

When we have grazed the land bare, our horses strain onward,
When we have grazed the land bare, onward press
bearing us until we overrun the impregnable.
The horses bearing us, until we overrun the well-defended land.
