I spread out the fertile earth for you as a paradise,

The cheerful earth spread out a paradise for you

And the arts of my imagination have blossomed there.

Where imaginative arts have flourished

وأبدعت افراحا لها ليس ستنتهي

أطايبها من نشوة وجمال

أطايبها من نشوة وجمال

And I created joys for it, with no end

And created everlasting joys

To their delights of rapture and beauty.

With bliss and beauty

تيقظ فيها الصيف من بعد غفوة

وأطلع فيها الحب كل مجال

Summer awoke there after a slumber,

And love brought forth every realm within it.

وغنت بها الأحلام حتى تمثلت

شخوصا أغانيها الحسان حيالي

And dreams sang there, until there took shape

Their lovely songs, as figures before me.

As charming songs and scenes

كأن نجوم الليل في وهج الضحى

أتين إليها في نثير لآلي

As though the stars of night, in the blaze of morning,

As if the stars of the night in the glow of dawn

Had come to it in a scattering of pearls.

Came to it in a gentle rustle

All feelings circle round them, just as

All senses roam through it as

Pilgrims circle before an image.

And in the prime of youth I paid no heed

For the rod of days weighs down my shoulders

With its chastisement of me before my passing.

Disciplining me before my death
