من هموم الإنسان ثم

أمانيه تألفت هيكلا لا ينام

From humanity's cares, and then

Its hopes, you took shape as a temple that never sleeps.

يتوالى الإشعاع منه على الرغم

من اليأس واحتشاد الظلام

Radiance streams continually from it, despite

Despair and the massing of darkness.

كلما أدجن الظلام تلألأت

كما شع فرقد مستهام

Whenever darkness deepened, you sparkled

As Farqad shone, love-stricken.

أنت أم الجميع لو يعقل

الناس ولو يدركون ويل الخصام

You are the mother of all—if only they understood,

The people—and if only they grasped the woe of strife.

لائم بعد لائم لك منهم

وعلى الرغم تنشرين الوئام

Among them, one reproacher after another blames you;

And despite it all, you spread harmony.

كم أياد بذلتها وهي قد

ضاعت ضياع الإحسان بين اللئام

How many favors you bestowed, yet they have already

Been wasted, as kindness is wasted among the ignoble.

إن تبالي يهم وإن تنهريهم

فهو بر بهم لأم تلام

If you care, it matters; and if you rebuke them,

That is a blamed mother's kindness toward them.

كل ما أسلفوا ذنوبا تناسوها

وحمّلتها كإرث مقام

All the sins they committed before, they put out of mind,

And you were burdened with them as an established inheritance.

عيدي وانصري الحقيقة لا تخشي

سواها ولو يسل الحسام

Celebrate and champion truth; do not fear

Anything but it, even if the sword is drawn.

عبدي فالأنام موئلهم أنت

وإن لجّ جلهم بالخصام

Enslave [unclear in context], for you are humanity's refuge,

Even if most of them stubbornly persist in strife.

عيّدي فالشعوب نحوك ما

زالت شخوصا نواشد الإلهام

Celebrate, for the peoples looking toward you have not

Ceased to be figures seeking inspiration.

عيدي للأنام في كل يوم

كيفما كنت لا لعام وعام

Celebrate for humanity every day,

Whatever your state—not merely year by year.

عيدي فالنجاح والفشل العارض

سيان إن خلقت السلام

Celebrate, for success and passing failure

Are equal if you have created peace.
