Were it not for the nights, we would not have borne the grit.

Would that you were asleep, O nights, away from us.

Suppose you kept the soul from complaining:

You will not prevent it from spitting out the vile.

We [hope], through my forbearance, that we shall rise, and that

my noble deeds endure until the Day of Resurrection.

And that we safeguard the truth from a people

who have concealed the truth and supposed it hidden.

May he be aided who has been aided by

victory, and he through whom vengeance is hoped for.
