War is inevitable,

even if humankind rejects it.

حقيقة وضعوها

فليس فيها كلام

A truth they have established,

so there is no disputing it.

ما دام شر فحرب

والشر فيهم لزام

والشر فيهم لزام

As long as evil persists, there is war,

and evil is ever present in them.

في كل يوم دعاوي

في كل يوم دعاوي

لا تنقضي وخصام

لا تنقضي وخصام

Every day brings claims

that never end, and strife.

إذا أستراح حسام

إذا أستراح حسام

في الغمد قام حسام

في الغمد قام حسام

When one sword rests

in its sheath, another sword rises.

وإن تصالح قوم

وإن تصالح قوم

تقاتلت أقوام

تقاتلت أقوام

And even if a people makes peace,

other peoples fight one another.

والناس للناس بالحر

والناس للناس بالحر

ب سيد وغلام

ب سيد وغلام

And in war, people are one another's

masters and slaves.
