The donkey fell from the ship in the darkness of night.
The donkey fell off the ship in the dark of night
So his companions wept for his loss and prayed for mercy on him,
His friends wept for his loss and pitied his plight
حَتّىuntil إِذاwhen طَلَعَrose النَهارُthe day أَتَتcame بِهِwith him

نَحوَ السَفينَةِ مَوجَةٌ تَتَقَدَمُ
Until, when day broke, he was brought
But when morning arose a wave did bring
Toward the ship by an advancing wave.
The donkey back to the ship, a joyous thing

It said, “Take him as he came to me, unharmed;
It said "Take him just as I bring him, unharmed"
I did not swallow him, for he cannot be digested.”
"I did not swallow him up, for he's not to be chewed"
