This and that are equal in majesty.

they would disdain to dwell in the celestial spheres.

In honor, O mighty one of the age, you have surpassed its kings,

in merit—and your two sons have surpassed their sons.

secure in its course, founded on your rightly guided reason.

with its counterpart, whose waters are drawn from your right hand.

She came to your gate on a feast day, after

your bounty had come anew to me.

Is it that whenever my considered verse pours forth praise of your bounty,

your hands forestall my praise with spontaneous giving?

You have no need of praise; but if you desire

what delights the cultured king, then take it.
