ماذا يكابد في النوى ويلاقي
My two sons may well say in their private talk:
And my two sons may well say in their private conversation:
“What does he endure in separation, and what befalls him?”
What does he suffer and face in separation?
ولدىَّmy two sons مصرEgypt لهاfor her كماjust as لكماfor you both هوىًlove

والحب كل صبابة بمذاق
And I harbor love for Egypt, just as I harbor love for you both;
My two sons, I love Egypt just as I love you both;
and love—each ardent longing has its own savor.
And in love, each longing has its own flavor.
