ذي هِمَّةٌ دونها في شَأوِها الهِمَمُ

ذي هِمَّةٌ دونها في شَأوِها الهِمَمُ

لَم تَتَّخِذ لا وَلَم تَكذِب لَها نعَمُ

لَم تَتَّخِذ لا وَلَم تَكذِب لَها نعَمُ

This is a resolve whose reach all other resolves fall short of.

It has never made 'no' its answer, nor has its 'yes' proved false.

بَلَّغتَني أَمَلاً ما كُنتُ بالِغَهُ

بَلَّغتَني أَمَلاً ما كُنتُ بالِغَهُ

لَولا وَفاؤُكَ يا مَظلومُ وَالكَرَمُ

لَولا وَفاؤُكَ يا مَظلومُ وَالكَرَمُ

You have brought me to a hope I would not have attained,

But for your loyalty, O Mazloum, and your generosity.

وِدادُكَ العِزُّ وَالنعَمى لِخاطِبِهِ

وِدادُكَ العِزُّ وَالنعَمى لِخاطِبِهِ

وَوُدُّ غَيرِكَ ضِحكُ السِنِّ وَالكَلمُ

وَوُدُّ غَيرِكَ ضِحكُ السِنِّ وَالكَلمُ

Your affection is honor and bounty to whoever seeks it;

But others’ affection is only smiling teeth and words.

أَكُلَّما قَعَدَت بي عَنكَ مَعذِرَةٌ

أَكُلَّما قَعَدَت بي عَنكَ مَعذِرَةٌ

مَشَت إِلَيَّ الأَيادي مِنكَ وَالنِعَمُ

مَشَت إِلَيَّ الأَيادي مِنكَ وَالنِعَمُ

Whenever an excuse holds me back from you,

Do your favors and blessings come walking to me?

تُجِلُّ في قَلَمِ الأَوطانِ حامِلَهُ

تُجِلُّ في قَلَمِ الأَوطانِ حامِلَهُ

فَكَيفَ يَصبِرُ عَن إِجلالِكَ القَلَمُ

فَكَيفَ يَصبِرُ عَن إِجلالِكَ القَلَمُ

You honor, in the pen of nations, the one who wields it;

So how can the pen refrain from honoring you?
