    ونالها من نال بالراحة

    What is this palm that has dealt a slap,

    and whose blow its recipient received from the palm?

  2. كانت يدا بيضاء لكنها

    قد افقدت مصفوعها الراحه

    It was a white hand, yet it

    has robbed the one it slapped of rest.

  3. سودت الدنيا عليه فقد

    أوشك أن يحرق مصباحه

    It blackened the world for him, so that he

    almost burned his lamp.
