There once were sheep, or so they claim,
In the land of Baghdad, where a shepherd tended the flock.

A distance; she cried, “Come, rise against the prowler!”

Fear made the earth's expanse seem narrow to the wolf,
So he slipped across it like a gazelle over the plain.
