May the women of the earth be her ransom—what a Circassian woman!

Her story is passed around among kings.

When she appears, the day longs for her tunic,

To make the midmorning sun jealous with it—and jealous it grows.

And if she rises to walk, her figure is coveted

By women around her, tall and short.

She has a smiling mouth for whose sake carnelian lives,

And little pearls live within the carnelian.

And a patch of cheek: one moment a paradise

To your eyes, O beholder; the next, a fire.
