رُزِقتُ صاحِبَ عَهدِهِ

رُزِقتُ صاحِبَ عَهدِهِ

وَتَمَّ لِيَ النَسلُ بَعدي

وَتَمَّ لِيَ النَسلُ بَعدي

I was blessed with a keeper of his pledge,

I was granted a companion true to his word

And my line after me was secured.

And my progeny continues after me

هُم يَحسُدوني عَلَيهِ

هُم يَحسُدوني عَلَيهِ

وَيَغبِطوني بِسَعدي

وَيَغبِطوني بِسَعدي

They envy me for him,

They envy me for him

And envy me my good fortune.

And congratulate me on my bliss

وَلا أَراني وَنَجلي

وَلا أَراني وَنَجلي

سَنَلتَقي عِندَ مَجدِ

سَنَلتَقي عِندَ مَجدِ

Yet I do not think my son and I

Neither I nor my son

Will meet in glory.

Will we meet at the place of glory?

وَسَوفَ يَعلَمُ بَيتي

وَسَوفَ يَعلَمُ بَيتي

أَنّي أَنا النَسلُ وَحدي

أَنّي أَنا النَسلُ وَحدي

And my household will come to know

And my family will know

That I alone am my own posterity.

That I am the progenitor alone

فَيا عَلي لا تَلُمني

فَيا عَلي لا تَلُمني

فَما اِحتِقارُكَ قَصدي

فَما اِحتِقارُكَ قَصدي

So, Ali, do not blame me;

So Ali do not blame me

For I do not mean to belittle you.

For I did not mean to scorn you

وَأَنتَ مِنّي كَروحي

وَأَنتَ مِنّي كَروحي

وَأَنتَ مَن أَنتَ عِندي

وَأَنتَ مَن أَنتَ عِندي

And you are part of me, like my soul,

You are to me as my own soul

And you are who you are to me.

And you are to me as you are

فَإِن أَساءَكَ قَولي

فَإِن أَساءَكَ قَولي

كَذِّب أَباكَ بِوَعدِ

كَذِّب أَباكَ بِوَعدِ

So if my words have hurt you,

If my words have pained you

Prove your father wrong with a promise.

Then call your father a liar of his word
