The lord said frankly:

Our Lord said plainly,

“Our Zaghlul—we shall try him out,

We will test Zoghloul,

ونزقه ونسوسه

And feed him beak to beak, and manage him,

Provoke and tempt him,

And love him and draw him close.

Love and draw him near.

فإذا تكامل ريشه

وبدا هناك تقلبه

Then, when his plumage is fully grown,

If his feathers grow full

And his fickleness then appears,

And he shows fickleness there,

ومشى كسائر قومه

في بردتيه تعصبه

في بردتيه تعصبه

And, like the rest of his people, there walks

And walks like the rest

Within his two cloaks his partisan zeal,

In his cape's blindness,

فهناك دنلوب ومن

فهناك دنلوب ومن

من شكله سندنلبه

من شكله سندنلبه

Then Dunlop is there, and those

We'll trap and dunce-cap him

Of his kind; we shall make him a Dunlop.”

Who's shape we will dunce.
