Tell Time to pour forth its calamities,

Tell time to pour down its events,

Or not to pour them—we have no fear.

Or not to pour them, we care not,

غمرت مصائبه فأُغرقنا بها

غمرت مصائبه فأُغرقنا بها

والغمر فيه تستوى الأعماق

والغمر فيه تستوى الأعماق

Its misfortunes engulfed us, and so we were drowned in them;

Its misfortunes have submerged us,

And in the flood, all depths are alike.

In deep water all depths are equal.
