Since what age have you flowed through the villages?

And with what hand do you lavish bounty upon the cities?

Did you descend from heaven, or were you made to spring from

the loftiest gardens, as shimmering streams?

From which spring, or from which raincloud,

or which deluge do you overflow and pour abundantly?

when you return, the rich silk turns deep green.

a marvel, for you are the artful dyer.

your pools full, delightful, and gushing.

by those coming to drink, nor does your table run out.

you bear mud like musk that never clears.

    Red in the basins, yet

white and gleaming upon the soil's neck.

why should one who feeds and provides not be deified?

If any creature could be deified, then

the rank of divinity would befit none but you.

worship is reverent fear and attachment.

Who raised their fathers' lineage to the morning light:

the sun is their radiant, deep-rooted ancestor.

their tombs a lofty edifice and a palace.

incense were burning in every region.

that Bilqis borrowed and stole from its adornments.

the day of tombs, or a lovely wedding.
