Jinns attacked the sanctity of the sky,
Or youths who mounted the wing and flew?
Or were they youths who flew on wings?

Each a daredevil whose bridle in the air
Every unruly one in the air, his reins
Is the frenzy of the winds, and whose saddle is the whirlwind.
Are the fury of the winds and its saddle, the storm.

He seeks the sun's veil, seeking there
It seeks the veil of the sun, it wants from it
A glory the forefathers bore as they journeyed on.
Glory that ancestors bore and marched on.

But concealed landmarks and a beacon,
Except faint voices and minarets.

The saying of generations did not catch up with them
By any builder, nor reached by any excavator.'
Nor did any builder or digger reach them.

They rose over the valley with their age's banner,
They rose above the valley under the banner of their time,
And every age has a banner and a motto.
For each time has a banner and motto.

They have nests in every quarter.
From every direction, each has its nest.

The secret of success and the pillar of civilization
Great resolve among volunteers.
Are ambitions from senior volunteers.

The heroes of the sky have superseded the valor
With the heroes of the sky, a heroism was copied
Of earth, whose pillar is about to crumble.
On earth, its pillar is about to collapse.

This is an age when reins are no home
This is a time when neither spears are homes
For might, nor spearheads an abode.
For valor in it, nor tongues homes.

Might comes only from a swooping raider's two wings;
Valor is nothing but two wings of a kidnapper
On land and sea, his name is the aviator.
On land and sea named the aviator.

Do you see safety in the sky and its shade
Or does imperialism charge through the sky?
Or does colonialism rage in the sky?

The sanctuary of guidance and truth—its majesty is terror-stricken,
The sanctuary of guidance and truth - its glory spree -
And destruction comes and goes along its two sides.
And tomorrow and evening, destruction is on its sides.

O you who brings mirage to the desert, filling it
With peril, and its dust with dangers.
With delusions and filling its dust with dangers.

A night suffices you as a feat of courage,
One night of courageous resolve is enough for you
Spent free of its perils—and a day as well.
Dawn and dusk have passed with its perils for you.

When you relied on the wing, you wrapped
Deserts, and barren wastes cast their eyes about.
Your hand and the deserts turned their eyes.

There is land jealous of the sky over you.
The land envies you from the sky.

Hassanein, had they not excused you, there would have come rushing
Beautiful ones, even if they did not excuse you, would have offered
Excuses in your defense from the tongue of your wounds.
From the tongue of your wounds, excuses.

God be praised for your saddle in the sky, for it
To God belongs your saddle in the sky, it is
Is the saddle of the crescent moons, untouched by dust.
The saddle of the crescent, no dust is upon it.

An eclipse befell it, but brought no disgrace upon it;
An eclipse occurred but did not affect it
An eclipse brings no shame upon crescent moons.
No dishonor is upon the crescent from an eclipse.

Or have you not stepped on the land of the sky or known
Where the suns and moons revolve?
Where suns and moons rotate?

Abu al-Faruq turned his attention toward you,
Abu Al-Fadl threw his gaze towards you
And a nation and its lands were engrossed in you.
And a nation and its lands were busy with you.

A king: you were shown mercy through his closeness and protection,
A king you were pitied for his proximity and neighborhood
Till you seemed a neighbor to Providence.
As if you were a neighbor of Providence.

The pavilion and airfield were set up, and there soared
The canopy was erected and it drizzled and eyes
Through the air eyes reaching to touch your form.
Flew in the air touching your figure.

So you touched heaven's decrees, and they unveiled themselves,
So you touched the destinies of the sky and they appeared
Until the fates beheld their faces.
Until their faces, the fates, looked.

A fate held safety in its right hand
A destiny on his right hand is safety for you
For you wherever you veered, though there was stumbling in the sky.
Where you inclined and in the sky is misfortune.

So when you fell upon blazing iron,
So if you fell on glowing iron
The iron turned aside, and the fire did not touch you.
The iron collided but the fire did not touch you.

What did you encounter from all calamities?
Tell me, do the noble mounts have a claim for vengeance against you?
Tell me, do you have revenge against calamities?

This one stumbles in the bridle and that one does not

Failure is magnified like success over it from
Glory from the honor of wounds and their radiance.
The honor of wounds and the light of them, pride.

Had there been no dead or wounded in battle,
If there were no dead and wounded in the fray
No laurel would have crowned the victors' heads.
The cave of the victorious would not be known.
