1. زين الملوك الصيد مر بزينتي

    كرما وباب الله طاف ببابي

    The adornment of noble kings passed by my adornment,

    Out of generosity—and God's gate circled my gate.

  2. يا ليلة القدر التي بلغتها

    ما فيك بعد اليوم من مرتاب

    O Night of Decree, which I have reached,

    After today, no one doubts you.

  3. ما كنت أهلا للنوال وإنما

    نفحات أحمد فوق كل حساب

    I was not worthy of bounty; rather,

    Ahmad's wafts of grace are beyond all reckoning.

  4. لما بلغت السؤل ليلة مدحه

    بعث الملوك يعظمون جنابي

    When I attained my wish on the night of praising him,

    He sent the kings to honor my person.

  5. بدران بدر في السماء منوّر

    وأخوه فوق الأرض نور رحابي

    Two full moons: one radiant in the sky,

    And its brother on earth, the light of my courtyards.

  6. هاذ ابن هانئ نال ما قد نلت من

    حسب نُدل به على الأحساب

    Here is Ibn Hani, who attained what I have attained of

    Honor with which we boast above ancestral honors.

  7. قد كان يسعى للرشيد ببابه

    فسعى الرشيد إليه وهو بباب

    He used to hasten to al-Rashid at his gate;

    Then al-Rashid hastened to him, while he was at a gate.
