رضيت جمعهم من عاذلي بدلا

I would gladly take their whole host in exchange for my reproacher.

I would accept them all in place of my reproacher.

لو تسأل الأرض عنه كيف تحمله

لو تسأل الأرض عنه كيف تحمله

لقالت الأرض كيما أحفظ الثقلا

لقالت الأرض كيما أحفظ الثقلا

If you asked the earth about him—how it can bear him—

If you asked the earth about him—how it bears him—

the earth would say: So that I may keep the weighty one safe.

The earth would say, “So that I may preserve heaviness.”
