The hoopoe stood at the door
The hoopoe stood at the door of Solomon in misery
of Solomon, in abasement.
He said "O my lord, make my life easier for me
قالَhe said ياO مَولايَmy lord كُنbe ليfor me
عيشَتيmy life صارَتbecame مُمِلَّهwearisome
He said, "O my lord, stand by me;
I am dying of love for a grain of rice
my life has grown wearisome.
That caused turmoil in my chest

I am dying from a grain of wheat
Neither the Nile waters can quench it
that caused a burning thirst in my breast.
Nor the waters of the Tigris
لاnot مِياهُwaters النيلِthe Nile تُرويquench
هاit وَلاnor أَمواهُwaters دِجلَهthe Tigris

The waters of the Nile cannot quench
And if it lasts a little while
it, nor can the waters of the Tigris.
It will kill me the worst kind of death

And if it lasts a little longer,
So the noble lord signaled
it will kill me in the worst way."
To those around him

Then the exalted lord gestured
The hoopoe had committed a sin
to those who were around him:
And did an abhorrent deed

"The hoopoe has committed a sin,
That is the fire of sin in the chest
and committed an act of baseness.
And the one complaining is causing it

That is the fire of sin in the breast,
I see that the grain was
and this complaint is a pretext.

I can only suppose that the grain
Indeed the oppressor has a chest
was stolen from an ant's home.
That complains without cause

Indeed, the wrongdoer has a breast
that complains without an ailment."
