O you through whom the Lord sealed His message

to all creation, and they attained the utmost bliss.

And you who drew near, then nearer still, to His precinct,

as close as two bow-lengths, or closer, with no distance between.

And you who, through Him, truly saw and spoke to Him,

    without place, manner, or limit.

And you were favored with the greatest sign, through which you became

the most exalted of creation, before and after.

And you, by whose palm diseases were healed,

so their sufferer was restored, like a keen Indian sword.

And you restored Qatad's eye after it had been plucked out,

so it saw again after it had flowed onto the cheek.

    Stretch your right hand toward me, for I have an illness;

nothing remains of me but bone and skin.

The physician was at his wits' end with it and left me,

helpless, and surrendered me to sleeplessness and anguish.

    Yet I have hope in you, O best of creation;

through it I hope for healing from what lies deep within me.

By the honor of Fatimah al-Zahra and those she bore,

ask your Lord to pardon me, O you whose promise is true.

O master of creation, my love for you has made me hope

for compassion, gentleness, beneficence, and aid.

May the God of the Throne bless you for as long as

the east wind is fragrant with the scent of musk and incense.
