وسطت خير الورى في هدى أولادي

وسطت خير الورى في هدى أولادي

وليس بعد رسول الله من هادي

وليس بعد رسول الله من هادي

I made the best of humankind an intercessor for my children's guidance.

You were the best of creation in guiding my children,

And there is no guide after the Messenger of God.

And after the Messenger of Allah there is no other guide.

يا مصطفى أنت بعد الله ملجؤهم

يا مصطفى أنت بعد الله ملجؤهم

فامنحهم مدَداً من خير أمداد

فامنحهم مدَداً من خير أمداد

O Mustafa, after God you are their refuge.

O Mustafa, after Allah you are their refuge,

So grant them help of the finest kind.

So grant them abundant goodness from the best provisions.

حاشى سواك رسول الله يلحظهم

حاشى سواك رسول الله يلحظهم

وهم لسبطك من أفراد أحفاد

وهم لسبطك من أفراد أحفاد

Far be it that anyone but you, Messenger of God, should look upon them.

Except you, O Messenger of Allah, no one looks after them,

And they are numbered among your grandson's descendants.

And they are descendants of your beloved grandson.

والكل ينمى إلى الزهراء فاطمة

والكل ينمى إلى الزهراء فاطمة

والفرع لاشك قد يعلو بأجداد

والفرع لاشك قد يعلو بأجداد

And all trace their lineage to al-Zahra, Fatima.

And all trace back to Fatima Al-Zahra,

And the branch, no doubt, may rise high through its ancestors.

And the branch undoubtedly can be lofty due to its roots.

الجود والخير في يمناك مجتمعٌ

الجود والخير في يمناك مجتمعٌ

وعذب بحرك مرجو لورداد

وعذب بحرك مرجو لورداد

Generosity and goodness are gathered in your right hand.

Generosity and goodness are gathered in your right hand,

And your sea's sweet water is hoped for by those who come to drink.

And your sweet sea is hoped for its downpours.

فانظر إليهم ونجح حسن مقصدهم

فانظر إليهم ونجح حسن مقصدهم

وامنن عليهم بتسديد وإرشاد

وامنن عليهم بتسديد وإرشاد

So look upon them and grant success to their good purpose.

So look upon them and make their good purpose succeed,

And favor them with right direction and guidance.

And bestow upon them guidance and direction.

إن لم تساعدهم الأيام من زمن

إن لم تساعدهم الأيام من زمن

فنظرة منك تروى غلّة الصادى

فنظرة منك تروى غلّة الصادى

If the days have not favored them for some time,

If the days of time do not help them,

Then a glance from you quenches the thirsty one's burning thirst.

Then a glance from you waters the thirst of the seeker.

يا رب مالى سوى المختار واسطة

يا رب مالى سوى المختار واسطة

أرجوه لي ولهم في خير إسعاد

أرجوه لي ولهم في خير إسعاد

O Lord, I have no intercessor but the Chosen One.

O Lord, I have none but the Chosen as my intercessor,

I look to him for the greatest happiness, for me and for them.

I hope in him for myself and them for the best happiness.

فاشرح إلهي بهم صدرى بلا مهل

فاشرح إلهي بهم صدرى بلا مهل

واجعل حياتي بهم أيام أعياد

واجعل حياتي بهم أيام أعياد

So, my God, bring ease to my breast through them without delay.

So my God, ease my chest through them without delay,

And make my life, through them, a succession of feast days.

And make my life with them days of celebration.

وارزقهم العز وامنحهم شهادتهم

وارزقهم العز وامنحهم شهادتهم

عما قريب ولا تحكم بإبعاد

عما قريب ولا تحكم بإبعاد

And grant them honor and bestow their certificate upon them,

And grant them might and give them martyrdom,

Very soon, and do not decree separation.

Soon, and do not decree separation.

ورد بالفوز والعلياء غائبهم

ورد بالفوز والعلياء غائبهم

فالبعد زهدني في النوم والزاد

فالبعد زهدني في النوم والزاد

And bring their absent one back with success and eminence.

And return their absent ones in triumph and elevation,

For separation has made me lose my desire for sleep and food.

For separation has made me disgusted with sleep and food.

لولا رجائي بأن الله يحفظه

لولا رجائي بأن الله يحفظه

لقطعت بيد الأشواق أكبادي

لقطعت بيد الأشواق أكبادي

Were it not for my hope that God keeps him safe,

If not for my hope that Allah protects him,

My livers would have been torn apart by the hand of longing.

I would have cut my liver with the knives of yearning.

مولاي مولاي لا تشمت بنا أحدا

مولاي مولاي لا تشمت بنا أحدا

ورد في النحر منهم كيد حساد

ورد في النحر منهم كيد حساد

My Lord, my Lord, let no one gloat over us.

My Master, my Master, let no one gloat over us,

And turn the enviers' schemes back into their own throats.

And return the schemes of their envious ones in their throats.

وجد بعفو وإحسان وعافية

وجد بعفو وإحسان وعافية

وارفع مقامى وقدرى بين أندادي

وارفع مقامى وقدرى بين أندادي

And be generous with pardon, kindness, and well-being.

Show them clemency, benevolence and wellbeing,

And raise my station and my worth among my peers,

And raise my status and worth among my peers.

بجاه خير الورى الهادي وعترته

بجاه خير الورى الهادي وعترته

سفن النجاة لمرتاع ومرتاد

سفن النجاة لمرتاع ومرتاد

By the honor of the best of humankind, the Guide, and his family—

For the sake of the best of creation, the guiding one, and his family,

Ships of salvation for the frightened and the seeker.
