And when I grew distressed by my illness and sickness,

and suffering from weakness overtook me,

I sought refuge with God's Messenger, Taha,

merciful of heart, in whose hand lies healing.

So sickness left me through his two palms,

and disease fled when the remedy came.

So from his right hand come blessing and [an unclear word],

and from his left, ease and exaltation.

O Messenger of God, far be it, after this,

that illnesses should befall me, or I should be harmed.

And far be it that, because of straitened circumstances, I should say,

"O Messenger of God, fate has closed in on me."

For all good is hoped for from your bounty,

and from your favor, generosity has overflowed.

Grant me refuge, O Messenger of God, for I am

loyal, and loyalty is due to the loyal.

And rescue me, my children, and my family

with your gaze, in which lies happiness.

And through your care, be my best patron

    when hostility rouses the enemies.

For if you look upon me, all people, in my eyes,

except the Guide and his kindred, are dust.

And if you show compassion, my condition is transformed,

and serenity never leaves my life.

For you are the benevolent one in generosity and goodness,

and a sea from which the buckets draw,

and the patron of the hopeful if time deals unjustly,

and the refuge-seeker's protector—in you lies hope.

May God send blessings upon you as long as there shine forth

the stars of night, or the light gleams,

and upon his kindred and those who gave support and shelter,

and the companions, whose merit has no end.
