Signals of mouths and winks of eyebrows,
Gestures of mouths and winks of eyelids
And fluttering eyelids, and a hand that greets;
And downcast gazes and hands that greet
وَأَلسُنُناand our tongues مَعقودَةٌtied عَنfrom شَكاتِناour complaints

وَأَبصارُنا عَنها الصَباباتُ تفهَمُ
And our tongues are tied, unable to voice our complaints,
While our tongues are muted from complaints
And from our eyes our passionate longings are understood.
Our eyes through veils do understand and meet
