From me and from her, two—a heart and an eye,
Both ailing—one envied, the other pitied.
وَطَرفيand my gaze لَهاto her عَمّاabout what بِقَلبيin my heart مِنَof الهَوىlove
إِذاwhen لَمnot أُطِقI can bear شَكوىa complaint إِلَيهاto her مُتَرجِمُan interpreter
And my gaze tells her of the love within my heart,
An interpreter when I cannot bear to complain to her.
