The eye of “al-Raqīt” (unclear as written) showed recognition with a greeting,

And signaled with the glance of a suspicious eye,

And lamented the anguish of separation through eyelids

That gave voice to the tongue of a sorrowful heart.

Many a glance is more eloquent than an utter-

ance, and more revealing of what hearts conceal.
