أَباO father of حَسَنٍHasan إِنَّindeed الخَليفَةَthe caliph أَصبَحَتhas become
أَبا حَسَنٍ إِنَّ الخَليفَةَ أَصبَحَت
لَناfor us كَفُّهُhis hand غَيثاًrain وَأَنتَand you سَحابُهاits cloud
لَنا كَفُّهُ غَيثاً وَأَنتَ سَحابُها
O Abu Hasan, indeed, the caliph's hand has become
O Abu Hasan, the Caliph has become
rain for us, and you are its cloud.
Like rain to us, and you are its clouds,
فَماfor there is no مِنany يَدٍhand; kindness بَيضاءَwhite; generous تُسديyou bestow لِاِمرِئٍupon a person
فَما مِن يَدٍ بَيضاءَ تُسدي لِاِمرِئٍ
وَلاand no نِعمَةٍfavor إِلّاexcept إِلَيكَto you اِنتِسابُهاits attribution
وَلا نِعمَةٍ إِلّا إِلَيكَ اِنتِسابُها
For no kindness you bestow upon anyone,
No white hand pours out to anyone,
nor any favor, is attributed to anyone but you.
Nor any blessing, but through you comes its origin.
