ومن أعجب الأشياء أن يرتقي الردى

ومن أعجب الأشياء أن يرتقي الردى

إلى روح من أمسى لجسم العلى روحا

إلى روح من أمسى لجسم العلى روحا

And among the strangest things is that death should ascend

Among the strangest things is that the lowly

To the soul of one who became a soul to the body of glory,

Would ascend to be the soul of the most high

ومن لم يزل يحيي الليالي عمره

ومن لم يزل يحيي الليالي عمره

صلاةً وقرآناً وذكراً وتسبيحا

صلاةً وقرآناً وذكراً وتسبيحا

And of one who never ceased, throughout his life, to enliven the nights

He who always spends his nights

With prayer, Qur'an recitation, remembrance, and glorification,

In prayer, Quran, remembrance, and praise

ومن هو عند اللَه حي كذكره

ومن هو عند اللَه حي كذكره

وإن أرخوه مرتضى سلب الروحا

وإن أرخوه مرتضى سلب الروحا

And of one who is alive with God, as his memory lives on,

He who, in God's sight, is alive like his remembrance

And though they dated his death in a chronogram: 'Murtada was stripped of his soul.'

Even if they who approved of it stole his soul
