Hard upon the nobles was the loss of her
who was cherished; patience grew scarce after her passing.
هدshattered قوىthe powers of الفخرpride أساهاgrief over her وقدand indeed برحafflicted grievously
هد قوى الفخر أساها وقد برح
بالمجدupon glory جوىburning anguish وجدهاmourning her
بالمجد جوى وجدها
Grief for her shattered pride’s strength, and sorely afflicted
was glory by the burning anguish of mourning her.
شقيقةsister of المهديal-Mahdi مهديMahdi, the rightly guided one أهpeople (first part of أهل)

لcompletion of أهل (‘people’) الحقthe truth هاديهاher guide إلىtoward رشدهاher right path
ل الحق هاديها إلى رشدها
Sister of al-Mahdi, Mahdi of the people
of truth, her guide to the right path,
ومنand the one who هوhe الغرةthe white blaze منof جبهةthe brow of الthe (article attached to the next word)
ومن هو الغرة من جبهة ال
علياءeminence والدرةand the pearl منof عقدهاits necklace
علياء والدرة من عقدها
and of him who is the white blaze upon the brow of
eminence, and the pearl in its necklace.
قدindeed حكمdecreed اللَهGod بخيرwith goodness لهاfor her
قد حكم اللَه بخير لها
وزادهاand increased her سعداًhappiness إلىin addition to سعدهاher happiness
وزادها سعداً إلى سعدها
God has decreed good for her
and added yet more happiness to her happiness.
إذاwhen حطتshe set down الرحلthe saddle بأحمىin the safest حمىًsanctuary
إذا حطت الرحل بأحمى حمىً
بهin it أنيلتshe was granted منتهىthe utmost of قصدهاher aim
به أنيلت منتهى قصدها
When she set down her saddle in the safest sanctuary,
there she was granted the utmost of her desire.
وحينand when حلتshe settled فيin حمىthe sanctuary of المرتضىal-Murtada
وحين حلت في حمى المرتضى
أخرتshe was delayed (uncertain reading) لاذتshe sought refuge بحمىin the sanctuary of جدهاher grandfather
أخرت لاذت بحمى جدها
And when she settled in al-Murtada’s sanctuary,
she was delayed; she sought refuge in her grandfather’s sanctuary.
