تَجلتshone forth بِهَجةjoy الدَهرthe age
تَجلت بِهَجة الدَهر
بِأَبهىwith the most splendid الأنسcompanionship وَالبَشَرand cheer
بِأَبهى الأنس وَالبَشَر
The joy of the age shone forth
The radiance of time has manifested
With the most splendid companionship and cheer.
With the most splendid companionship and joy
وَزَهرand the blossom of العزglory مُبتَهجjoyful
وَزَهر العز مُبتَهج
بَروَضin a garden طيبsweet النَشرfragrance
بَروَض طيب النَشر
And glory's blossom rejoiced
And the flower of glory rejoices
In a sweet-scented garden.
In the gardens of fine dissemination
وَلاحَand appeared النُورthe light مُبتَسِماًsmiling
وَلاحَ النُور مُبتَسِماً
بِنُورwith the light of الأَنجُمthe stars الزُهرshining
بِنُور الأَنجُم الزُهر
And light appeared, smiling,
And light has smiled radiantly
With the radiance of the shining stars.
With the light of the shining stars
وَوافىand arrived السَعدgood fortune فيin فَرَحjoy
وَوافى السَعد في فَرَح
لِنَجلfor the son of السَيدSayyid الدَريal-Durri
لِنَجل السَيد الدَري
And good fortune arrived in joy
And good fortune came happily
For the son of Sayyid al-Durri.
For the son of the master full moon
هُوَhe الراقيthe one ascending ذَرىthe heights of شَرَفhonor
هُوَ الراقي ذَرى شَرَف
وَأَضحىand became عاليhigh in القَدرrank
وَأَضحى عالي القَدر
He ascends the heights of honor
He is the one rising to the peak of nobility
And has become exalted in rank.
And has become of high value
بِهِthrough him الأَيامthe days قَدindeed سَعَدتbecame happy
بِهِ الأَيام قَد سَعَدت
وَنالَتand attained أَكمَلthe fullest الفَخرglory
وَنالَت أَكمَل الفَخر
Through him, the days have grown happy
Through him the days became fortunate
And attained the fullest glory.
And attained the utmost pride
بِهِthrough him عَبدAbd (servant of) المَجيدal-Majid (the Glorious) زَهاshone
بِهِ عَبد المَجيد زَها
وَحاكىand matched ليلةthe Night of القَدرDecree
وَحاكى ليلة القَدر
Through him, Abd al-Majid shone
Through him Abdelmajeed became radiant
And matched the Night of Decree.
And resembled the night of decree
وَقَدand indeed تَمwas completed القِرانthe marriage لَهُfor him
وَقَد تَم القِران لَهُ
قِرانthe union of الشَمسthe sun بِالبَدرwith the full moon
قِران الشَمس بِالبَدر
And his marriage was brought to completion:
And the conjunction was completed for him
The union of the sun with the full moon.
The conjunction of the sun with the full moon
قِرانa union لاحَappeared مُنتَظِماًwell ordered
قِران لاحَ مُنتَظِماً
كَنَظمlike the stringing of العَقدthe necklace بِالدرwith pearls
كَنَظم العَقد بِالدر
A union that appeared well ordered,
A conjunction that shone, well-ordered
Like a necklace strung with pearls.
Like the order of pearls with gold
لَهُfor him العَلياexalted glory تُؤرخهrecords its date
لَهُ العَليا تُؤرخه
بِبَيتin a verse نَظمهits composition درىpearl-like
بِبَيت نَظمه درى
For him, exalted glory records its date
For him the most high date it
In a verse of pearl-like composition:
With a verse he composed subtly
بِأَعلىin the loftiest طَلعةaspect يَزهوshines
بِأَعلى طَلعة يَزهو
قِرانthe union of الكَوكَبthe star الدريpearl-bright
قِران الكَوكَب الدري
In the loftiest aspect shines
With the highest rising he boasts
The union of the pearl-bright star.
The conjunction of the brilliant star
