سَعد السُعود لَقَد وافى بِما وَعَدا

سَعد السُعود لَقَد وافى بِما وَعَدا

وَكَوكَب البَشَر في أُفق الهَنا صَعَدا

وَكَوكَب البَشَر في أُفق الهَنا صَعَدا

Saʿd al-Suʿūd has indeed fulfilled its promise,

Saad the auspicious, he has fulfilled what he promised

And the star of gladness has risen on joy’s horizon.

And the star of humanity has risen in the horizon of prosperity

وَأَصبَح الكَون مَسروراً بِمَولد مَن

وَأَصبَح الكَون مَسروراً بِمَولد مَن

سَرت بِطَلعتهِ الأَيّام إِذ وجدا

سَرت بِطَلعتهِ الأَيّام إِذ وجدا

And the universe has rejoiced at the birth of one

And the universe has become joyful for the birth of one

Whose countenance gladdened the days when he came into being.

Whose rising has gladdened the days when he was found

قَد كانَ مَولده لِلمَجد خَير سَنا

قَد كانَ مَولده لِلمَجد خَير سَنا

وَمِن سُعود عُلاه الكَون قَد سَعَدا

وَمِن سُعود عُلاه الكَون قَد سَعَدا

His birth was indeed glory’s finest radiance,

Indeed, his birth was the best fortune for glory

And through the good fortunes of his eminence, the universe has prospered.

And from Saoud his elevation the universe has become fortunate

يا دَهره حَق أَن تَزهى بِمَولده

يا دَهره حَق أَن تَزهى بِمَولده

فَمثله مُنذُ كانَ الدَهر ما وَلَدا

فَمثله مُنذُ كانَ الدَهر ما وَلَدا

O age of his, it is fitting that you glory in his birth;

O his era! You have the right to pride yourself for his birth

For time, since it began, has never begotten his like.

For the like of him has not been born since time began

لِأَن لَكَ نجل في الأَنام لَهُ

لِأَن لَكَ نجل في الأَنام لَهُ

مَجد يُناسب فيهِ الوالد الوَلَدا

مَجد يُناسب فيهِ الوالد الوَلَدا

For among mankind you have a son whose

Because you have a son among people for whom

Glory is such that the father matches the son.

Glory befitting the father and son together

وَهُوَ بن بيك العُلا علوي أَجل أَب

وَهُوَ بن بيك العُلا علوي أَجل أَب

حازَ المَعالي وَقَد دامَت بِهِ أَبَدا

حازَ المَعالي وَقَد دامَت بِهِ أَبَدا

And he is the son of Alawi, Bey of eminence, the noblest father,

And he is the son of the most high Bey, most high parent

Who attained high honors, which have endured through him forever.

Who has attained the highest merits which persist with him

أَنعم وَأَكرم بِمَولود وَخير أَب

أَنعم وَأَكرم بِمَولود وَخير أَب

في الفَضل وَالمَجد وَالعَليا قَد اِتَحَدا

في الفَضل وَالمَجد وَالعَليا قَد اِتَحَدا

How excellent and noble are the newborn and the finest father!

He has been blessed and honored with a newborn and the best father

In excellence, glory, and lofty rank, the two have united.

In merit, glory, and loftiness they have united

وَلَيسَ ذا بِعَجيب فيهما أَبَدا

وَلَيسَ ذا بِعَجيب فيهما أَبَدا

فَالشبل تَبع في آدابه الأَسَدا

فَالشبل تَبع في آدابه الأَسَدا

And this is no wonder in the two of them at all,

And this is no wonder for them at all

For the cub has followed the lion in his manners.

For the cub has followed the lion in manners

فَاللَه يَحفَظ لِلمَولود طَلعته

فَاللَه يَحفَظ لِلمَولود طَلعته

لِكَي يَدوم بِعالي القَدر مُنفَرِدا

لِكَي يَدوم بِعالي القَدر مُنفَرِدا

So may God preserve his countenance for the newborn,

So may Allah protect the rising of the newborn

That he may remain peerless in exalted rank.

So that he may remain singular with high valor

وَليهنأ الوالد الأَعلى بِنجل علا

وَليهنأ الوالد الأَعلى بِنجل علا

في يَوم مَولده الاقبال قَد وَفَدا

في يَوم مَولده الاقبال قَد وَفَدا

And may the most exalted father rejoice in a son who has risen high;

And may the highest father rejoice for a son most high

On the day of his birth, good fortune indeed arrived.

On the day of his birth, prosperity has come

وَقَد سَما في سَماء العز مُبتَهِلا

وَقَد سَما في سَماء العز مُبتَهِلا

وَطالع السَعد في عَرش الكَمال بَدا

وَطالع السَعد في عَرش الكَمال بَدا

And he has soared in the heaven of honor, praying fervently,

And he has risen high in the sky of honor praying

And fortune’s ascendant has appeared on perfection’s throne.

And the good luck star has appeared in the throne of perfection

خَيرات مَجد سَما قالَت مُؤرخة

خَيرات مَجد سَما قالَت مُؤرخة

يَمن صَفا بِعَزيز خَير مَن وَلَدا

يَمن صَفا بِعَزيز خَير مَن وَلَدا

The blessings of soaring glory spoke, recording the date:

The best of glories has risen, chronicled time has said

Good fortune grew pure through Aziz, the finest ever born.

The blessing of pure honor said, the best of those born
