لا يَغررنك إِذا ما اِستَبدَلوك بِمَن
لاnot يَرهضcrushes الخَصمthe foe أَوor يَقويhas strength عَلىto البَطشviolent striking
لا يَرهض الخَصم أَو يَقوي عَلى البَطش
Do not be deceived when they replace you with someone
Don't be deceived if they should replace you with one
Who neither crushes the foe nor has the strength to strike.
Who neither contends against foes nor wields might in blows
فَدوكthey ransomed you بِالغَيرwith another إِذbecause خافواthey feared عَلَيكfor you غَداًtomorrow
فَدوك بِالغَير إِذ خافوا عَلَيك غَداً
كَماjust as فَداransomed اللَهGod إِسماعيلIshmael بِالكَبشwith the ram
كَما فَدا اللَه إِسماعيل بِالكَبش
They ransomed you with another, fearing for you tomorrow,
They sacrificed you for another out of future fears
Just as God ransomed Ishmael with the ram.
As God sacrificed Ishmael with a ram long ago
