بِحسن ابتسام الثَغر تَزهو تَهانينا

بِحسن ابتسام الثَغر تَزهو تَهانينا

وَمَقصدنا الأَسمى قُدوم أَفندينا

With the beauty of the port's smile, our congratulations shine.

And our highest aim is our Effendi's arrival.

فَهَذا قُدوم صير الثَغر باسِماً

فَهَذا قُدوم صير الثَغر باسِماً

وَنالَ بِرايات السَعادة تَزيينا

وَنالَ بِرايات السَعادة تَزيينا

For this arrival has made the port smile,

And it has been adorned with banners of happiness.

وَكُل أَهالي القطر نالوا مَسرة

وَكُل أَهالي القطر نالوا مَسرة

كَما نالَت العَليا برأيك تَمكينا

كَما نالَت العَليا برأيك تَمكينا

And all the people of the land have gained delight,

Just as glory has gained strength through your counsel.

وَكُلَهُم جاءُوا لِتشريفة زَهَت

وَكُلَهُم جاءُوا لِتشريفة زَهَت

بَعود ركاب مِنهُ عيد تَصافينا

بَعود ركاب مِنهُ عيد تَصافينا

And they all came to a ceremonial reception that shone

With the retinue's return, bringing a feast of our mutual affection.

وَعودك مَصحوب بِخَير سَلامة

وَعودك مَصحوب بِخَير سَلامة

وَفي بَهجة الإِقبال هَلت أَمانينا

وَفي بَهجة الإِقبال هَلت أَمانينا

And your return is accompanied by the blessing of safety,

And amid the joy of arrival, our hopes have dawned.

وَقد حُزت نيشان المَليك مرصعاً

وَقد حُزت نيشان المَليك مرصعاً

سرر نافِلا زالَت مَزاياك تَنبينا

سرر نافِلا زالَت مَزاياك تَنبينا

And you have won the sovereign's jeweled decoration;

We were delighted; may your merits never cease to bring us tidings.

وَنال بِكَ النيشان شَأناً وَرفعة

وَنال بِكَ النيشان شَأناً وَرفعة

فَفاقَ كَما فُقت الأَنام نَياشينا

فَفاقَ كَما فُقت الأَنام نَياشينا

And through you the decoration has gained stature and eminence,

So it surpassed other decorations, as you surpassed humankind.

وَمِنكَ رَأي السُلطان خَير شَهامة

وَمِنكَ رَأي السُلطان خَير شَهامة

فَأَيقَن أَن النَصر قَد عانَقَ الدينا

فَأَيقَن أَن النَصر قَد عانَقَ الدينا

And the Sultan saw in you the finest gallantry,

So he knew with certainty that victory had embraced the faith.

وَمَد أَياديهِ بِأَيد كَريمة

وَمَد أَياديهِ بِأَيد كَريمة

إِلَيكَ كَما مِنكَ الأَيادي تُوافينا

إِلَيكَ كَما مِنكَ الأَيادي تُوافينا

And he extended his favors with generous hands

To you, just as favors from you reach us.

فَنَحنُ نَهنى بِالَّذي نِلتَ نَفسَنا

فَنَحنُ نَهنى بِالَّذي نِلتَ نَفسَنا

لِأَن الَّذي يَرضيكَ لا شَكَ يَرضينا

لِأَن الَّذي يَرضيكَ لا شَكَ يَرضينا

So we congratulate ourselves on what you have attained,

For what pleases you undoubtedly pleases us.

وَأَلسنة العليا لعمرك أَرخَت

وَأَلسنة العليا لعمرك أَرخَت

بِعيد الهَنا للقطر عُود خديوينا

بِعيد الهَنا للقطر عُود خديوينا

And the tongues of glory, by your life, recorded the date

With a feast of joy for the land: our Khedive's return.
