Under Abbas II’s rule and noble sway,
In the reign of al-‘Abbas the Second and his rule
houses of charity rose, as numerous as the stars.

So the sick find healing in his bounty,
So for the sick, healing lies in his breath
and the poor find ease through his beneficence.

the dead man would surely be there, restored to life.
They would come alive, spread out in them

May health never forsake a people you have cared for,
No health you denied a people you looked after
nor may any land flourishing with learning lie deserted.
No land devoid of knowledge you built up
