Have you lightened a debt borne by the farmers—

Help the farmers, ease a crushing debt

a crushing one—or discharged and paid it off?

Or repay it and dispense it

وحسمت الداء العضال بما اختر

وحسمت الداء العضال بما اختر

And have you rooted out the intractable disease through your choice

And resolve the tenacious affliction with what you chose

of policies and measures of many kinds?

Of the matter and diverse measures

واسترد الأرض المسخر فيها

واسترد الأرض المسخر فيها

مستقلاً بها غراساً ونبتا

مستقلاً بها غراساً ونبتا

And has the man forced to toil there regained the land,

And regain the land enslaved in it

holding it in his own right, with its trees and crops?

Independently growing plants and vegetation in it

اصنع الخير واطلب العون من أه

اصنع الخير واطلب العون من أه

ليه واترك سواه ممَّا سمعتا

ليه واترك سواه ممَّا سمعتا

Do good, and seek help from those

Do good and seek help from its people

fit to give it; leave aside all else you have heard.

And leave anyone else from what you heard

فحسيباً عليك ما برح القو

فحسيباً عليك ما برح القو

م ونعم الحسيب للقوم أنتا

م ونعم الحسيب للقوم أنتا

For the people have never ceased to hold you to account,

So sufficient for you is that the people have not moved

and a fine reckoner for the people you are.
