Watering it with sweat pouring from him
while he is more generous in hand, heart and mind.

In its fertility he melts and decays

How can the meager land revive one who
amid its abundance he wastes away and wears out.

Meeting the enemy with force is better
Men's greed for power over us grew
than matching him in deception and guile.

So I hid away, with calamities in plain sight,
O men of the times, you've done well what
and lagged behind while events rushed on.

Forgiving time for leaving me no support
Meeting my needs face-to-face is better
