    Minister of Egypt, repeat it—the truest of speeches—

    And expound your declaration, noble in striving and pursuit.

    And you left them no harmful doubts.

    And people are equals in your eyes whenever they are united

    In their desires within your pleasant, spacious sanctuary.

    It does not pave the way for a usurper.

    Not for the heavily armed man who rains fire on the earth.

    Before the bonds of kinship and descent.

    كل الرياسات والألقاب والرتب

    O possessor of virtues, through which you deserve

    Every high office, title, and rank;

    وإن تحمَّل كل الهم والتعب

    And giver of the greatest ease to his nation,

    Though he shoulders every care and toil;

    على السلام دليل الدائب الدرب

    And uniter of the people in a party, through which he made

    The tireless, seasoned man's case for peace;

    How often they have coerced you, yet you refuse to treat them

    Except as brothers and companions.

    If you have the power to reform character,

    Then surely you have power over terrors and calamities.
