ناضر تبعث الهوى فيميلُ
I used to be given nectar to drink while the bough was tender,
I used to be watered with wine, and the moist wood
Verdant—you stir desire, and it sways.
Was fresh, arousing passion that leaned my way

ء وهبَّ الهواء فهو قتيلُ
And it became dry stubble; if water touches it
But it has become debris - if water touches it
And the wind blows, it is slain.
And the wind blows, it is a goner and undone
