إن عقلي الصافي وقلبي الرحيما
صيَّراboth have made بالهمومwith cares جسميmy body سقيماsick
صيَّرا بالهموم جسمي سقيما
Indeed, my clear mind and my compassionate heart
Have made my body sick with cares.
ليتنيwould that I لمnot (past negation) أكنI had been قريباًclose منto الناthe people (first fragment)
ليتني لم أكن قريباً من النا
سfinal fragment of “people” أراهمI see them ولاand not رقيباًa watcher عليماfully aware
س أراهم ولا رقيباً عليما
Would that I had not been close to people,
Seeing them, nor been a watcher fully aware.
