    Are they crusading, O people, or racist—

    these wars of yours? And is this religion, or polytheism?

    And are your neighbors your enemies, or your protectors?

    And are Jesus's enemies the Muslims, or the Turks?

    Did Jesus, then, seek vengeance by foul means?

    And were oppression and murder part of his character?

    ومن كان في شك فقد ذهب الشك

    Your kings have admitted the rancor in their souls;

    And if anyone was in doubt, doubt has now vanished.

    Does a vast army bear evil in every land,

    and on every sea a ship hurtle forth bearing harm?

    Come, for the calamity you spread

    upon the East is but a grim gathering-place for you.

    فعاد إلى أسيافه والقنا يشكو

    It complained of you to your partisans, but they rebuffed it;

    So it returned to its swords and spears with its complaint.

    The firmly rooted mountains shall crash down upon you,

    yet this caliphate and dominion shall not pass away.
