سلاماًa greeting منfrom النفسthe soul الأبيةproud ألقيهِI offer it
سلاماً من النفس الأبية ألقيهِ
عليكupon you وأغلىand the dearest زائرvisitor منthe one whom أحيِّيهِI greet him
عليك وأغلى زائر من أحيِّيهِ
A greeting from a proud soul I offer
I send you greetings of noble spirit
Upon you—and he whom I greet is the dearest guest.
And most precious visitor whom I welcome
تفقدْinspect قرىvillages الإقليمthe province واشهدand witness ولاءهits loyalty
تفقدْ قرى الإقليم واشهد ولاءه
كماjust as أنتyou راجيهhoping for it وآملهand wishing for it فيهin it
كما أنت راجيه وآمله فيه
Visit the province’s villages and witness its loyalty,
Visit the towns of the region and witness their loyalty
Just as you hope and wish to find it there.
As you hope for them and place hope in them
وإنand indeed مكاناًa place زرتهyou visited it لهوit surely is جنةa paradise
وإن مكاناً زرته لهو جنة
بماthrough what أنتyou قاضيهaccomplishing it وماand what أنتyou مجريهputting it into effect
بما أنت قاضيه وما أنت مجريه
And a place you have visited is truly a paradise,
And if you visited a place it becomes a paradise
Through what you accomplish and what you put into effect.
With your judgment and your administration
وماand no ساعةhour أمضيتهاyou spent it فيamong عشيرتيmy clan
وما ساعة أمضيتها في عشيرتي
سوىbut الدهرa lifetime تمليهyou prolong it نعيماًin bliss وتهديهand bestow it
سوى الدهر تمليه نعيماً وتهديه
And no hour you spent among my clan
And every hour I spent in my tribe
Is anything but a lifetime you prolong in bliss and bestow.
Is but an eternity you dictate, filled with bliss and guidance
فبلغso tell وزيرthe minister الملكthe king أنّاthat we دعاتهthose calling upon him
فبلغ وزير الملك أنّا دعاته
إلىto كلall ماthat يرضيpleases البلادthe country ويرضيهand pleases him
إلى كل ما يرضي البلاد ويرضيه
So tell the king’s minister that we call upon him
So inform the minister that we are his supplicants
To do all that pleases the country and pleases him,
For all that satisfies the country and satisfies him
وأنّاand that we بماthrough what أبدىhe showed وأجدىand bestowed benefits أعزةhonored
وأنّا بما أبدى وأجدى أعزة
وأنّand that لهfor him العقبىthe good outcome بماfor what باتhe spent the night ينويهintending it
وأنّ له العقبى بما بات ينويه
And that we are honored by what he has shown and bestowed,
And that with what he initiated and made fruitful we are honored
And that a good outcome is his for what he spent the night planning,
And that for him is the future with what he intends by night
وأنّand that لهfor him الإيمانَtrust منfrom كلevery مخلصloyal person
وأنّ له الإيمانَ من كل مخلص
وعهداًand a pledge يراعيهhe honors it وحقاًand a due يوفيهhe pays it in full
وعهداً يراعيه وحقاً يوفيه
And that he has the trust of every loyal person,
And that for him is the faith from every loyal one
And a pledge each honors, and a due each pays in full,
And a pact he observes and a right he fulfills
وأنّاand that we حماةdefenders العرشthe throne والعرشand the throne خالدeverlasting
وأنّا حماة العرش والعرش خالد
نقدسهwe hold it sacred تقديسveneration of مصرEgypt ونفديهand we sacrifice ourselves for it
نقدسه تقديس مصر ونفديه
And that we are the throne’s defenders, and the throne is everlasting:
And that we are the guardians of the eternal throne
We hold it sacred as we hold Egypt sacred, and sacrifice ourselves for it.
We sanctify it with the sanctity of Egypt and ransom it
