Counselor of the land, you are, in whatever
You are the advisor of the country as you see fit for it, O Mighty One
you deem best for her, strong and capable.

إنما زدته جميلاً لمما
أنتyou فيهاin them الفردthe peerless one العليمthe learned one الخبيرthe expert
أنت فيها الفرد العليم الخبير
Indeed, the good you have added is among the things
You in it are the unique, learned, well-informed
in which you are the peerless, learned expert.
And that which lasted and became from sorrows
والذيand what حلbefell واستطالand grew great منof الأعthe burdens (first part)
والذي حل واستطال من الأع
باء(completion of 'burdens') حقa duty عليكupon you سهلeasy يسيرlight
باء حق عليك سهل يسير
And the burdens that have come and grown great
Is a right upon you, easy, minor
are your duty, easy and light.
And the hope which you are worthy of has come
والرجاءand the hope الذيwhich لهof which أنتyou أهلworthy
والرجاء الذي له أنت أهل
جاءhas come ميعادهits appointed time وأنتwhile you are وزيرa minister
جاء ميعاده وأنت وزير
And the hope of which you are worthy
Its time and you are minister
has reached its appointed time, with you as minister.
The people's duty which you have taken so the grateful one is you, the great and thanked one
واجبthe duty of الشعبthe people ماwhat توليتyou undertook فالشاso the grateful one (first part)
واجب الشعب ما توليت فالشا
كر(completion of 'grateful one') أنتyou العظيمthe great one والمشكورand the one thanked
كر أنت العظيم والمشكور
The people's duty is what you have undertaken; you are both
And the one who paved the way to glory, his outcome and fate are splendid
the great giver of thanks and the one thanked.
And the place of pleasure from the Exalted King is for the like of you, the proper, worthy one
والذيand he who أحسنpursued well السبيلthe path إلىto المجglory (first part)
والذي أحسن السبيل إلى المج
د(completion of 'glory') مجيدglorious مآلهhis outcome والمصيرand the destination
د مجيد مآله والمصير
And he who rightly follows the path to glory
The treasuries of money are inhabited as long as you have the opinion and administration over it
has a glorious outcome and destination.
You are in its collection and expenditure with justice like the days of life revolve
ومكانand a place الرضىfavor منwith الملكthe king الأعthe supreme (first part)
ومكان الرضى من الملك الأع
لى(completion of 'supreme') بهfor it مثلكone like you الخليقthe fit one الجديرthe worthy one
لى به مثلك الخليق الجدير
And a place in the supreme king's favor
And if money were in the interest of the reconciled then it is the multiplied, abundant
is one that a man like you is fit and worthy to hold.
People are equal in affluence so no impoverished or deprived house remains
عامراتfull خزائنthe coffers of المالwealth ماas long as داremains (first part)
عامرات خزائن المال ما دا
م(completion of 'remains') لكyours الرأيjudgment فيهconcerning it والتدبيرand management
م لك الرأي فيه والتدبير
The treasury's coffers stay full, so long
And the safe valley will be saved from war even if the warning rages around it
as its direction and management remain yours.
Many protected from the flame escaped it and the distant from it met the flame
أنتyou فيin جمعهcollecting it وتصريفهand distributing it بالwith the
أنت في جمعه وتصريفه بال
عدلjustice كالدهرlike time بالحياةwith life يدورit turns
عدل كالدهر بالحياة يدور
You, in gathering and distributing it with
And if the minds of the people are surrounded by sorrows, the sorrows will not meet a changer
justice, are like time, turning with life.
And the restorer of peace in the land gently is in it the possible, victorious one
وإذاand when المالwealth كانis فيin ذمةthe keeping of المصthe reformer (first part)
وإذا المال كان في ذمة المص
لح(completion of 'reformer') فهوthen it is المضاعفmultiplied الموفورabundant
لح فهو المضاعف الموفور
And when wealth is in a reformer's keeping,
it is multiplied and made abundant.
يستويare equal الناسthe people فيin اليسارprosperity فلاso no يبremains (first part)
يستوي الناس في اليسار فلا يب
قى(completion of 'remains') ببيتin a home عانone in distress ولاnor موتورone bereft
قى ببيت عان ولا موتور
The people share equally in prosperity, and no one
remains in any home distressed or bereft.
وسينجوand will escape الواديthe valley الأمينsecure منfrom الحرwar (first part)
وسينجو الوادي الأمين من الحر
ب(completion of 'war') وإنand even if لجّpersists insistently فيin سواهplaces other than it النذيرthe warning
ب وإن لجّ في سواه النذير
And the secure valley shall escape war,
though the warning persists elsewhere.
ربّmany a دانone near منto السعيرthe blaze نجاescaped منfrom
ربّ دان من السعير نجا من
هit ونالand struck البعيدَthe one far away عنهfrom it السعيرthe blaze
ه ونال البعيدَ عنه السعير
Many a one near the blaze has escaped from
it, while the blaze has struck one far from it.
وإذاand when حاطتguarded الذمارَall that must be defended قلوبُthe hearts of الthe
وإذا حاطت الذمارَ قلوبُ ال
قومpeople لمdid not يدركreach الذمارall that must be defended مغيرa raider
قوم لم يدرك الذمار مغير
And when the people's hearts guard all they hold dear,
no raider can reach what they defend.
ومعيدand the restorer of السلامpeace فيon الأرضthe earth رفقاًgently
ومعيد السلام في الأرض رفقاً
هوhe فيهاon it الممكنthe one established in power المنصورthe one granted victory
هو فيها الممكن المنصور
And he who gently restores peace to the earth
is established there in power and granted victory.
