O Eid, my sorrows have left, in my hand

and in my inmost heart, no place or share for you.

The road has grown long for the caravan, and still

promises are offered in many ways and forms.

And you have come, while the plundered valley and its people

    face calamities and grave misfortunes,

trading insults with tongues and newspapers—

and these are the fiercest in battle and war.

And the foe is stationed behind both sides,

snatching up the victor and the vanquished.

Anger that sheds blood is less grave today than

rancor that stirs up failings and flaws.

In reconciliation between them lies salvation, and perhaps

they will find in you the beloved peacemaker,

so you restore their unity and unite their counsel,

and your brother will soon arrive with the outcome.
