Whoever wishes to answer: the call has been made

by Abd al-Majid, successor to the Chosen One.

Answer the caliph, and establish for yourselves

the path of loyalty and the course of selflessness.

The Prophet stood, crying out around his banner,

and shouting to the hesitant: 'Make haste!'

Stretch out your hands, pledging allegiance, for this is

the Prophet's day and the stand of the Ansar.

Do not follow those who lag behind, for they are

the army of the wayward and the followers of the gullible.

They seek the religion of wealth among its masters,

yet religion is the religion of the One, the All-Subduing.

Has the people's right been safeguarded, or their domain defended,

by merchants who bargain over honor?

The caliphate's rampart has indeed been saved by

a might that razes the loftiest walls.

It grew mighty through the warriors' swords, and you will never see

might like the edge of the keen, cleaving sword.

When terrifying fate struck its pillar,

they were its army, drawn from the decrees of fate.

Have you witnessed what the guides bound and what was made firm

by the hands of the eminent, virtuous defenders?

Then you witnessed the unraveling of difficulties by a hand

that tied the banner of the mighty, teeming army.

And you saw how the tyrant among the powers returns,

after its haughty ambition, in humiliation and abasement.

They raised the beacon for every bewildered people,

blind in its aims, unbridled in its desires,

sending hope along every dusty, dark path,

with hidden landmarks and effaced traces.

And people in this world are either beacons of guidance

or those led astray, who find no guidance from a beacon.

Say to Kinanah: every fighter has striven in earnest,

and every contender has pressed on toward the goals.

For you, in the warriors who rise up for their people,

lies the admonition of peoples and the lesson of lands.

They grew angry, and rode toward their independence on nothing

but a surging tide of blood and a deep sea of fire.

    ذُلُّ الحياةِ عُقوبةُ الإدبارِ

    Triumph in life is not for one who retreats;

humiliation in life is the punishment for retreat.

    ما المجدُ مسكنةٌ وطولُ قرارِ

    Glory is bold advance and a rebel's uprising;

glory is not servility and prolonged repose.

Indeed, when peoples' path is straight,

they are safe, on the morning of earnest effort, from every stumble.
