يُريدُwish الغاصِبونَthe usurpers وَنَحنُand we نَأبىwe refuse
وَيَأَبىand rejects اللَهُGod ذَلِكَthat مِنas مُرادِan aim
The usurpers wish it, but we refuse,
The oppressors want, but we refuse
And God rejects such an aim.
And God denies that from intention
أَقامواthey dwelt بَينَناamong us دَهراًa span of time طَويلاًlong
رَموناthey assailed us فيهِduring it بِالنُوَبِwith calamities الشِدادِgrievous
They dwelt among us for a long time,
They stood between us for a long time
Throughout it, they assailed us with grievous calamities.
During which they blamed us with heavy guilt
لَهُمthey have فيin الظُلمِoppression آثارٌtraces سَتَبقىwill remain
مَعالِمُهاtheir marks إِلىuntil يَومِthe Day of التَنادِmutual calling
They have left traces of oppression that will endure,
For them in injustice traces will remain
Their marks lasting until the Day of Calling.
Its features until the day of calling
تَمادَواthey persisted فيهِin it وَاِتَّخَذوهُand they adopted it ديناًas a religion
وَشَرُّand the worst الظُلمِoppression ظَلمُthe oppression of ذَويthose given to التَماديpersistence in wrongdoing
They persisted in it and made it a religion,
They persisted in it and took it as a religion
And the worst oppression is that of those who persist in it.
And the worst injustice is the injustice of the obstinate

Does the misfortunes depress us every day
And heralds of death terrify us at every gathering?
And the wailers frighten us in every call

We walk in politics in darkness
Which cloaks every horizon in blackness.
That covers every horizon in blackness

Sons of the Thames, where is the light to guide
Oh children of discrimination, where is the light that guides
Souls that have no guide in Egypt?
Souls that have no guide in Egypt

You claimed that your plan is reform
And that we wanted nothing but corruption.
And that we want nothing but corruption

And you came with protection, yet it is the most calamitous
And you came with protection and it is more harmful
And most ill-omened of the calamities we fear.
And ominous than what we fear from caprices

Sons of Egypt—how wretched Egypt's fate will be,
Oh children of Egypt, and evil is the fate of Egypt
If you do not heed the caller's voice.
If you do not hear the voice of the caller

Affliction in the Quiver is unceasing,
Affliction in arrogance is lasting
And evil increases every day.
And evil every day is increasing

Indeed, the hypocrite and the dissembler have grown rich,
The hypocrite and the sycophant have enriched
While the young fighter spent the night without provisions.
And the young man of jihad spent without provision

Take solace, O free people, we
Count our country the best of resources.
Consider our country the best supplies
