Stretch out your arms and raise your eyes.

Why do we not live honored and free?

Who allowed us to stagnate, and who decreed

That we should go astray, shackled captives?

Indeed, He who created souls free

Unshackled the peoples and liberated the lands.

Today every people seeks its right,

Neither afraid nor anxious nor fainthearted.

O delegation of al-Kinanah, hope is pinned

On you, while souls, as you know, are bewildered.

You pledged fidelity to Egypt, so she cried, 'God is great!'

When she saw her righteous sons.

And you bore the hopes of the country and its people,

So you bore lofty glory and pride.

Seek for us a life of honor, for we

Cannot bear to remain in humiliation.
